Holden Commodore SSV Phantom Black
Stage 2 Paint Correction + Quartz Glass Coat 75% SiO2 Paint Protection

Two cars up in Albury, NSW. 2 VFs in two days.
VF SSV before
Before starting any work
Car was prepped with Ultra Foam with Snow Foam Lance, together with Karcher High pressure washer to activate the snow foam from the lance.

Snow Foam is a good way to loosen up dirt and grime, also it saves time to clean the car thoroughly, after that a two-bucket system wash with grit guard was used to wash the car.

We can't stress enough how important it is to wash and decontaminate your car properly before any correction work.

TAC System Iron Zero is then used to clean the wheels, also it removes any iron (ferrus) that is on the wheel. Whenever Iron Zero is in contact with iron, it turns purple. We have used many different kinds of wheel cleaners. So far, iron zero impresses us. Also, it is available from our web store! www.grandsportdetailing.com.au/shop
high pressure rinse
We then dried the car with TAC System's microfibre weave drying towel. Dry in minutes without leave any water spots, streaks or marks. Impressive. I would recommend everyone to use it. (Available from our web store) We do not recommended using chamois "shammy" because that's one of the main reasons it causes swirls on your paintwork. Yes chamois absorbs water but what most people dont understand is it's flat, unlike microfibres has fibres in it. Chamois grabs onto your paint and also if there's any dirt in the chamois, its going to rub it into your paintwork, its like taking some dirt on your hand and rub it on your paintwork. I'm sure you guys won't like it yeah? :)
TAC System microfibre weave drying towel
We then used a medium grade clay bar to decontaminate the paintwork and remove any bonded contaminants.

minor scratches
Sure it does looks good and clean when it's out without the sun. You can see some defects though. Let's see what happens when you put it under a bright work light.
Swirl marks

car polishing
Swirl marks, minor scratches and just looking dull in general. It's not taken care of properly during its lifetime and it's only 1 year old. Our mission here is to make it looks like a brand new car again, but better. We are aiming for showroom quality

It's a good time to test out a new compound from TAC System, called "Refinish Ultra"
We used it with HD Yellow pad on a Rupes, and finish off with HD Polish on Yellow Rupes pad. Results are unreal! We then apply the process to the entire car

50/50
After the corrections, its filled with polishing dust from our polishers. Refinish Ultra is really good, the only bad points are hazing and dust, I'm sure the final version would be a lot better!

Mirrors before and after. Looks like it has just been resprayed!

High pressure rinse after to rinse away the polishing dust, and dried with microfibre weave drying towel to prevent any swirls from all the correction work

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII (Evo 8) MR
Stage 2 Paint Correction + TAC System Sparkle Quartz 75% SiO2 Quartz Glass Coat
White cars are definitely a challenge, because paint defects are a lot more harder to see and it's hard to bring out the gloss compared to darker colour cars.

The car was previously coated with cquartz and the bonnet, front bar, right rear door and rear bar has been resprayed. Swirls are light to moderate on the repsrayed parts and parts that has been previously coated has to be removed prior to coating.

Paint thickess are being measured before any correction to give us a rough idea of much paint we could correct. We always follow the good ol rule "use least aggresive products to get the job done"

Detailing Kingdom (dK) Product Training in Sydney

About a month ago, I got invited by Richard from Project Detail/VIP Car Detailing Sydney/TAC System Australia for a product that they are bringing it in to Australia. It’s a pleasure to come up to Sydney and learn about the product from Jesse, founder of Detailing Kingdom himself.

Detailing Kingdom’s product line, some of you may have heard of it, some of you may have not. They are going to be released soon to public and it’s a pleasure to be reselling their products soon in Victoria.

Picture
dK Next Cut Series:
1.1, 2.2 3.3, 1.1 Being the most and 3.3 being the least aggressive. Compounds can be mixed together to tackle different variety of paint types such as soft/sticky paints. E.g 4 dots of 1.1 and 4 dots of 3.3 on Orange dK pad.

The performance of dK's Next Cut amazes me. It can produce high clarity and gloss with only a few passes with a rotary polisher. Finishing it with dK Finale is another level of gloss.
Picture
dK Finale Anti-hologram Compound
A finishing compound to remove marring after heavy compounding and to bring out the gloss on the paint, or it can be used to remove holograms if a rotary is used with Next Cut compounds. It can be used to remove minor defects too for good condition paints with minor swirls. 10001 ways to use Finale, definitely one of compounds that I will keep it on me all the time!

Last Step Products (LSP)

dK FDC: Carnauba Coating, its good for water sheeting and a deep finish

dK FDT: PFTE Coating that not only it finishes well, but it last longer too. Jesse demonstrated that it does not mix with water at all, great on water beading. (Notice that water beading and water sheeting is two different things) I’ve never seen a PTFE coating like this before. Impressive!

dK DK9: Polymer Coating, it’s good for both water beading and sheeting, also it finishes really well. Think of FDC + FDT combined. It’s an awesome product to go on top of glass coatings too for a deeper finish.

dK JWAROVZKI LUMINEAUX, a premium wax offered by dK.

^ FDT Coating demonstrated in a cup, as you can see it does not mix with water at all.

dK Interior, SKIN Series
“There’s a price to pay to be an expert”
Jesse has wealth of knowledge and information about leather, how its made and how it works. Leather has pores and it breathes, its similar to our skin.

SKIN Wash – Leather and plastic cleaner
SKIN Serum – Leather antioxidant
SKIN Satin – Plastic conditioner – Our dashes etc, most of our dash is satin finish.
Picture
dK Chrome Polishing
Metal Polish – Cream for chrome polish. For the best results and efficiency use polishing flap wheels with a drill.

I got trained with a rotary polisher (Fein) with dK products, but they work really well with DA polishers too.

Keep out an eye on your web store for dK Products!
